Frequently asked questions…

With so much going on in preparation for your big day, you will with no doubt have a number of questions regarding the photography for the event. It’s important that you raise any queries with whoever you select to support you, to ensure there are no misunderstandings and so that both parties get the best out of the day. I’ve pulled together a short list of questions that are frequently asked – If you would like to have an informal chat to discuss your requirements, I would be happy to help.

What equipment do you use?2018-02-09T18:50:05+00:00

I come with a selection of camera bodies, lenses and backups to make sure I have everything for the day, and then some. Plus, a few flashes are ready for the evening dancing!

How soon do I need to book with you?2018-02-10T17:40:13+00:00

I would recommend enquiring as soon as you know your venue and date. Weekends get booked up many months in advance, often for the next 12-18 months so we can look at availability and arrange for an initial meeting.

A £200 non-refundable deposit is required to confirm the booking, which is then discounted from the final payment.

Can we meet you before the date?2018-02-09T18:45:40+00:00

You sure can! I enjoy meeting clients before the big day either in person or via Skype/Hangout, so we can get to know each other and understand the image styles you have in mind along with any creative ideas. We’ll look at the venue, the outfits and logistics to make sure that on the day itself, you can completely relax whilst I capture the best moments.

How far can you travel?2018-02-10T18:07:29+00:00

Everywhere. I’ve travelled worldwide for a number of international businesses to cover both commercial shoots and events.

Within the UK, I cover a 60mile radius of Reading included in the cost; Additional mileage will need to be charged at 45p/mile.

I love weddings abroad (Italy being a personal favourite) and, unlike many other photographers, I don’t charge a travel fee. The only additional considerations would be the travel and accommodation.

What happens if it rains?2018-02-10T12:09:46+00:00

Unfortunately the weather is something that is out of our control – However, it isn’t going to stop your day going ahead! Rain is something we are very much used to in the UK, so please don’t panic. We’ll do some fantastic shots inside the venue, and if you are feeling up to it, we’ll embrace the weather and end up outside for some fun shots!

How many images will you take?2018-02-09T21:56:45+00:00

This is where I differ from many others. You’ll find some photographers that shoot thousands of images in the hope that one works well. With the experience I have across a range of industries, I’m well rehearsed in getting the right shots. So rather than provide you with 500+ images that don’t cut the quality I would expect, I make a commitment to provide you with nothing but the best selection of shots from the day. I aim to shoot a minimum of 25 images per hour, and provide you with a selection of images that’ll tell a story for many years to come.

How long will it take to receive the images?2018-02-09T21:52:55+00:00

Once your big day has drawn to a close and the guest area heading home, the photography review gets started. Around 3-4 weeks (approx. 120 hours) are spent reviewing, editing and retouching images before a final quality check to ensure the images you receive are nothing but the best. So you’ll have final images within 4 weeks of your wedding day.

Can I have a second photographer?2018-02-10T11:07:48+00:00

Of course! A second photographer adds a whole different perspective to the day – They can cover the Groom’s preparation, as well as different angles across the day. We include a second photographer with our top package to provide you with nothing but the best experience.

What’s your image style?2018-02-10T11:22:31+00:00

I love capturing real emotion, real reactions and conversations. Whilst I have experience shooting commercial styles, and we will get some fantastic couple shots, I enjoy shooting with an informal photojournalist approach to snap genuine moments from throughout the day.

During our pre-wedding briefing, we’ll discuss image styles along with any examples of images that you like and want from the day – So have a think about what you want out of the day and I’ll make it happen.

I’m not confident in front of the camera…2018-02-10T12:15:14+00:00

First of all, you’re not alone. Some people are very natural in front of the lens, others aren’t. It’s my job to understand what you both want, and to help make you feel at ease. Some of the couple shots may be a little more staged, and I’ll work with you to help relax and just enjoy the moment. We can have a good chat during our pre-wedding briefing, even some shots if you are feeling up to it.

The rest of the day you just need to be yourself; You’ll look amazing with an amazing venue in the background. Leave the rest to me.

Can I give you a list of shots we would like?2018-02-10T17:44:10+00:00

Of course! In fact, I tend to discuss this when we have the pre-wedding briefing, if not before. It allows me to understand how you imagine your day and how I can make that come to life. So please, if you have any examples of images or even a shot-list then share your ideas with me and we can be prepared for when the big day arrives.
